Girl Scales Everest Base Camp

Everest Base Camp Trek is for nature lovers and the one who seeks to achieve a certain level of spirituality among themselves. This trek teaches the true meaning of determination and patience.A Girl Saanvi Sood became the youngest Girl to scale Mount Everest Base Camp at the age of 7 years. This was her one of the lifetime adventure, the trek which had all the aspects, which made the travelers remember from the spellbinding landscapes, the unique Sherpa culture, the amazing wildlife to the serenity of the monasteries.

The journey to Everest base camp passed through snow peaked mountains, hanging bridges, raging rivers, dense forests, and waterfalls with lots of ascend and descends on the steep & rugged trek. The temperature reaches up to 25 degrees on summer day and drops down to -20 degrees at night.

Scaling to Everest Base Camp was Saanvi’s dream. The trails of southern base camp are really rough, rocky and steep, which was a challenge. The route for the southern base camp starts from the Tenzing Hillary airport at Lukla (2,800 m), the second dangerous airport and the best air routes in the world as from flight, was able to see stunning snow-capped Himalayan mountains such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Thamserku. Amadablam, Langtang Ri, and the Everest.

From Lukla, the trek started towards Phakding (2,652 m) through the Cheplung village, passing through the majestic pine forest. Leaving Benkar and Jorsala valley behind, Saanvi reached to Namche Bazaar where she took a day off and explored the region. From Namche, the trek resumed and the young girl passed through Tengboche Monastery crossing the Loche river, scaling to one small ascend to Dingboche (4,400 m). From where, She reached to Lobuche via Duglha and headed towards Gorak Shep (5,180 m,) which finally lead to the Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). Where the youngest scalling girl hoisted the tricolor.

It is a saying that difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, this can be said for this trek too. The journey leaded her to reach a calming state of mind, yet there are various obstacles present before reaching the destination. The difficulty level of the Everest Base Camp is moderate. The trekking time took two weeks. Yougest girl was fully determined and was physically fit.

Among the various hurdles of EBC, the altitude is considered to be one of the major difficulty. As this trek starts at the height of 3,000 meters, and the base camp is situated at the height of 5400 meters above the sea level, which is actually a great height. Therefore the young Girl made herself physical as well as mentally fit before starting the trek by going through everyday exercises along with cycling & Running supported by good food.

The distance between Lukla to the Everest Base Camp is nearly 130 kilometers ,Yet some of the trekkers find the distance being too long. The trekkers must keep in mind that the trekking is on altitude and on non-paved rocky, steep, roads.
